It provides learners with the essential “core knowledge” needed to safely use laser and other high-energy light devices, following the latest MHRA guidance for safe operation of lasers, IPL, and LED systems in medical and aesthetic practice.
This qualification ensures learners understand the key legal, health, and safety principles that govern the safe use of laser and light-based technologies in professional environments.

Who Is This Qualification For?
Entry Requirements
- There are no formal academic entry requirements for this qualification.
- Centres will carry out an initial assessment to determine prior knowledge and support needs.
- Learners must be at least 18 years old at the time of registration.
This qualification can be completed as a stand-alone award, or as a prerequisite for advanced laser qualifications such as:

What Students Need to Do
To successfully achieve the qualification, students must compile a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates understanding of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria.
The portfolio will include:
Written assignments, reports, and research projects.
Professional discussions and reflective accounts.
Worksheets and knowledge-based assessments.
Observation reports or witness testimonies (if applicable).
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) if previous experience or training can be evidenced.
All assessments are reviewed by qualified assessors and internally quality-assured by Belle Clinic before being externally verified by ProQual.
Assessment and Quality Assurance
- Assessment is Pass / Fail.
- All learners are internally assessed by Belle Clinic’s qualified assessors.
- Portfolios are reviewed by an Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) to maintain consistency and fairness.
- External Quality Assurance (EQA) is carried out by ProQual Verifiers before certificates are issued.
Adjustments to assessment are available in line with ProQual’s Reasonable Adjustments and Special Consideration Policy for candidates with specific learning or access needs.
